What’s New in Microsoft Office 2013?

Microsoft Office, first developed in 1989, was a milestone. After the ingression of Office 2010 for Windows and Office 2011 for Mac OS X, Microsoft tendered the new Office 2013 with prodigious new features.

Disclosed on July 16th, 2012, in San Francisco, this office suite takes Microsoft to a whole new level. It was made clear that students, families, customers, and businessmen are aimed equally to make use of it. Steve Ballmer quoted Office 15 or 2013 as the “biggest and the most ambitious release”.

What makes Microsoft Office 2013 “the biggest and most ambitious release”?
Office 2013, along with a diversity of applications like Word, Outlook, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint, is touchscreen-friendly. This makes it amiable to phone and tablet users.

The most remarkable feature, however, is Microsoft’s cloud storage system. All the documents are saved in a folder named SkyDrive on your desktop. Now you can access this folder from any of your devices. Resume reading the document on your PC and pick up where you left off on your Windows Phone. Furthermore, you can send links of these documents and share them with your friends, even if they are non-Office 15 users, suggesting you can view them online.

What’s new in Microsoft Word?

You can swap to the read-only mode in Word and PowerPoint, giving it a magazine look. Also, Microsoft Word helps zoom text, tables, pictures, and even videos to full-screen size. Not only this, you can convert your document into a threaded-style conversation by using the “comment and reply” feature.

Having a hard time editing your PDFs? The new Microsoft Word gives you one of the most useful options to, not only open and view your PDF files, but also edit them. Inserting and removing the objects from your document is made easier by providing onscreen guides.

What changed in PowerPoint and Excel?

The improved alignment of objects and choice of theme and color will take you by surprise. PowerPoint 2013 has also given you the option to zoom your slides. In addition to it, you can select your slide from the navigation Grid view rather than juggling them around.

Flash Fill, being the most impressive feature in Excel, recognizes the pattern of your data and completes the remaining sheet itself. The ease of use has certainly increased with the new features, no doubt in an effort more people to start using the program. If you were on the fence about learning excel, then now is the best time to jump in. You could also join excel classes in Denver or anywhere else near you if need be. Getting ahead on the use of Excel and PowerPoint now should give you an advantage over those still using the 2007 version.

How have Microsoft Outlook and OneNote improved?

Outlook syncs with your online accounts like Hotmail and Gmail to purvey alerts and access your calendar, contacts, and more. An automatic scan of your emails and addresses is impressive. The “People Card” service converts your long contact list into single contact profiles for an easier view.

To help you schedule your plans better, Outlook now has a service that can tell how the weather is and how is it going to be.

If you love making notes, you won’t stop deifying OneNote. Its metro style look and unique features makes it more imposing. Drag and drop the pictures or even spreadsheets you want to insert. It helps to collaborate your notes from windows phone, iOS or android. Using your stylus, you also erase, edit and draw. Features like handwriting recognition make it more user-friendly.

Apart from this, signing up on Skype gives you free 60 world minutes. Microsoft has also integrated Office 15 with Yammer.

Consequently, Microsoft Office 2013 is doozy and a lot more.

Didn’t worked well with my Windows 8 installation but works fine with Windows 7. They might have to fix the compatibility with Windows 8 I guess.
